A disciplined bowling performance after Half-centuries from Mohammad Kaif and Rahul Dravid helped to India narrow 11-run victory over Bangladesh, despite a fighting knock from Khaled Mashud's 50* and take a 1-0 lead in a tight-game of the first ODI.

Match Stats :
  • India's 11-run win was their smallest victory by terms of runs against Bangladesh in One-day internationals, previously they won by 200-runs at Dhaka in the last year.
  • Debutant MS Dhoni became the first Indian player to run out for a first-ball duck on debut match in One-day international cricket history and overall the fourth player in ODIs.
  • 128 : Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Kaif set up the record fourth-wicket partnership for India against Bangladesh in One-day internationals, previously held by the 27-run stand between Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja at Dhaka in 1998.
  • India's 245 was their third highest score against Bangladesh in One-day internationals.
  • Bangladesh's 234 was their highest score at Chittagong in One-day internationals, previous highest was 156 against Zimbabwe in 2001.

India scored 245-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Mohammad Kaif 80, Rahul Dravid struck 53 off 80-balls including 5-fours.

Ajit Agarkar scored 25 off 24-balls including one-six & a four, Irfan Pathan hammered a unbeaten 21 off 11-balls included 2-sixes & a four with strike rate of 190.91.

Yuvraj Singh hit 21 off 33-balls including 4-fours and Sachin Tendulkar 19.

Bangladesh best bowler by Nazmul Hossain, Tapash Baisya both took 2-wickets, Mushfiqur Rahman, Mohammad Rafique and Khaled Mahmud each took one-wickets.

Bangladesh scored 234-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Habibul Bashar struck 65 off 96-balls including 6-fours.

Khaled Mashud hammered a unbeaten 50 off 39-balls including 4-fours & a six with strike rate of 128.21 and Khaled Mahmud 21.

India best bowler by Sridharan Sriram picked up 3-wickets, Ajit Agarkar took 2-wickets, Debutant Joginder Sharma - who took one-wicket on his debut ODI match and Irfan Pathan took 1-wicket.

Mohammad Kaif named Player of the match for his brilliant batting performance to scored a 80-runs knocked off facing 111-balls including seven boundaries.
