Zimbabwe won the President's Cup yesterday by beating a disappointing Kenya by 82 runs in the second match of a best-of-three final. In a match repeatedly interrupted by rain.
Zimbabwe scored 272 for six wickets in a reduced 49 overs before dismissing the Kenyans for 190 in 46.1 overs.
Zimbabwe finished undefeated and won $20,000 in the tournament which also featured Bangladesh.
The $10,000 runners-up cheque was some consolation for the Kenyans whose performance did little to support their recent elevation to full international status in the one-day game.
As in the first, final on Saturday, the Kenyans appeared to have little interest in chasing the Zimbabwe target and seemed more intent on not disgracing themselves.
Their cause was not helped by Hitesh Modi who scored 57 runs but took 102 balls doing it. He also ran out two team mates including skipper Aasif Karim who was hitting his stride when dismissed for 53.
Kenya fell apart between the 15th and 25th overs, adding just 15 runs for the loss of five wickets. Karim helped put on 100 for the eighth wicket.
Chief destroyer for the Zimbabweans was Andrew Whittall, former Cambridge University captain, who took three for 23 with 10 overs of nagging off-spin. Paul Strang took three for 37.
Earlier Grant Flower (78) and John Rennie (76) put on 150 for the second wicket in 25 overs to give the Zimbabweans a winning platform. Craig Evans contributed a lusty 48 not out off 43 balls, chiefly at the expense of Thomas Odoyo who was hit for 47 off four overs.

Aasif Karim blasted a unbeaten 53 off 49-balls including 6-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 108.16, Steve Tikolo hit 23 off 25-balls included 2-fours and Kennedy Otieno scored 15 off 30-balls contained two-fours.
Zimbabwe best bowler by Andy Whittall picked up 3-wickets, Paul Strang captured three-wickets for 37-runs in 10-overs included 2-maidens with economy rate of 3.70 and Grant Flower took 2-wickets.
Andy Whittall named Player of the match for his brilliant bowling performance to picked up 3-wickets for 23-runs in 10-overs including two maidens with economy rate of 2.30.
Andy Flower earned player of the tournament for contributing 375 runs with average of 62.50.
