Aaron Finch's century and David Warner's fifty leads to Australia crushing six-wicket victory over England and take a 1-0 lead in the first ODI.

  • Australia chased 270 was their sixth highest successful run-chase against England in One-day internationals.
  • Aaron Finch is becoming Australia's post-Ashes specialist. In Southampton he made a record Twenty20 international score of 156 and here became the first Victorian to score an ODI century at the MCG.
  • 163 : Aaron Finch and David Warner set up the record first-wicket partnership for Australia against England in One-day international, previously held by the unbeaten 118-run stand between Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden at Sydney in 2003.

  • England's 269 was their second highest score against Australia at MCG in One-day internationals.
  • 163 : Aaron Finch and David Warner set up the record first-wicket partnership for Australia against England in One-day international, previously held by the unbeaten 118-run stand between Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden at Sydney in 2003.
  • Aaron Finch's 121 was his second highest score for Australia in One-day international and the joint eighth highest-score by an Australian batsman against England in ODIs, jointly with Adam Gilchrist's unbeaten 121.

England scored 269-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Gary Ballance struck 79 off 96-balls including six boundaries.

Eoin Morgan struck 50 off 47-balls including 5-fours & a six, Ian Bell scored 41 off 55-balls included 2-fours & a six.

Jos Buttler cracked a unbeaten 34 off 24-bals including one-six & a four with strike rate of 141.67 and Ben Stokes 21.

Australia best bowler by Clint McKay picked up 3-wickets, Xavier Doherty, Glenn Maxwell, Nathan Coulter-Nile and James Faulkner each took one-wickets.

Australia chased 270-4 in 45.4 overs with top scorer by Aaron Finch 121 - which was his 2nd ODI hundred and his first century against England in ODIs.

David Warner struck 65 off 72-balls including 5-fours & a six, Michael Clarke scored 43 off 42-balls included 6-fours and George Bailey 17 not out.

England best bowler by Joe Root, Chris Jordan, Tim Bresnan and Ben Stokes each took one-wickets.

Aaron Finch named Player of the match for his match-winning magnificent 121-runs knocked off facing 128-balls including 12-fours.
