A superb unbeaten 76 by captain Richie Richardson and Carl Hooper's all-round display gives West Indies snatch a thrilling 4-run victory over Pakistan in a rain-shortened game of the fifth match of a Benson and Hedges World Series Cup.


* West Indies had been 118 for 5 in 35 overs at  when rain intervened to reduce their allotted overs to 42. On resumption, they added 59 off their last seven overs.

* The reigning World Cup champions Pakistan lost their final seven wickets for 25 runs in the space of six overs with four of those run out.


West Indies scored 177-7 in the allotted 42 overs - match reduced from 50 to 42-overs per a side - due to rain  - with top scorer by Richie Richardson cracked a unbeaten 76 off 112-balls including 6-fours & a six.

Carl Hooper cracked a 24 off 38-balls, Ian Bishop hit 17 off 20-balls including a boundary, Brian Lara scored 15 off consuming 52-balls without a boundary.

Pakistan best bowler by Wasim Akram picked up 3-wickets for 38-runs in 9-overs including a maiden, Aamer Sohail captured 2-wickets for 26-runs in 10-overs including a maiden with economy rate of 2.60, Mushtaq Ahmed and Aaqib Javed both took one-wickets.

Pakistan bowled out for 173 in 41.5 overs with top scorer by Ramiz Raja cracked a 52 off 80-balls including 3-fours.

Aamer Sohail struck 41 off 49-balls including 4-fours, Saleem Malik 22 off 51-balls without a boundary and Inzamam-ul-Haq hit 18 off 30-balls without a boundary.

West Indies best bowler by Carl Hooper picked up 3-wickets, Phil Simmons and Curtly Ambrose both took one-wickets.

Carl Hooper named Player of the match for his all-round performance to picked up 3-wickets for 31-runs in 7.5-overs after scoring a valuable 24 off 38-balls including a boundary.
