But when Virender Sehwag played a magnificent 112 got out, there was a massive batting collapse and India lost the next 6 wickets for just 16 runs.

And were left stranded at 198/9, with still 2 runs to win with 1 wicket in hand in the final over.

Javagal Srinath and Ashish Nehra were at the crease in a last over thriller. Srinath and Kumble match winning knock against Australia in 1996 and here was another opportunity for Srinath to script one of the best last over chases in cricket history for India.

The duo scrambled a run by escaping a narrow run-out and then Ashish Nehra hit the penultimate ball of the innings for a four, helping India win by 1 wicket in one the thrilling finishes in cricket and probably among the best finishes in cricket history for India in ODIs.
