An unbeaten 94 from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul's fifty leads to India chased record target of 208 against West Indies by a emphatic six-wickets and take a 1-0 lead in a high-scoring thriller of the first T20 international.

  • Virat Kohli sealed India's sixth straight successful run-chase at home in T20Is.
  • India chased 208 was their second highest successful run-chase in T20 international and their highest chase against West Indies in T20Is, previous highest chase was 182 at Chennai in the last year.
  • Virat Kohli became the second batsman to score 2500 runs landmark in T20 international after Rohit Sharma (2547).
  • Virat Kohli's 94 was the ninth highest score for India in T20 international and the third highest score by an Indian captain in T20Is.
  • 23 : Virat Kohli hit the most fifties or more runs in T20 international cricket history, broken the Rohit Sharma's (22) record.
  • KL Rahul became the seventh Indian batsman to score 1000 runs in T20 internationals.
  • 29 Innings : KL Rahul became the joint fastest to reach 1000 T20I runs in terms of innings, jointly with Aaron Finch and the second quickest for India in T20Is.
  • 24 - Evin Lewis hit the most sixes against India in T20Is, surpassing the previous record of 23-sixes struck by Glenn Maxwell.
  • 52-wickets : Yuzvendra Chahal became the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is.
  • West Indies' 207 was their fifth highest score in T20 international and their second best total against India in T20Is.
  • India's 209 was their seventh highest score in T20 international and their third best total against West Indies in T20Is.
  • 100 : KL Rahul and Virat Kohli set up the joint sixth highest second-wicket partnership for India in T20 international, jointly 100 held by between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli against Bangladesh at Dhaka in the 2014 World Twenty20 and India's second highest second-wicket stand against West Indies in T20Is.

The First Auto No-Ball Call

Third umpire Anil Chaudhary adjudged Kesrick Williams to have overstepped and called it a no ball. A first in this series and for an India match.



West Indies scored 207-5 in 20 overs with top scorer by Shimron Hetmyer struck 56 off 41-balls including 2-fours and 2-sixes, Evin Lewis blasted a 40 off 17-balls included 4-sixes &  3-fours with strike rate of 235.29.

Kieron Pollard hammered a 37 off 19-balls including 4-sixes and a four with strike rate of 194.73, Brandon King hit 31 off 23-balls included 3-fours & a six and Jason Holder blasted a unbeaten 24 off 9-balls including 2-sixes & a four with strike-rate of 266.66.

India best bowler by Yuzvendra Chahal takes 2-wickets, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Deepak Chahar each took one-wickets.

India chased 209-4 in 18.4 overs with top scorer by Virat Kohli 94 not out, KL Rahul struck 62 off 40-balls included 5-fours and four-sixes with strike rate of 155 and Rishabh Pant 18

West Indies best bowler by Khary Pierre took two-wickets, Kieron Pollard and Sheldon Cottrell both took one-wickets.

Virat Kohli named Player of the match for his match-winning career-best unbeaten blazing 94-runs knocked off facing 50-balls including 6-sixes and 6-fours with strike rate of 188.
