Robin Singh - Ajay Jadeja stars as India win thriller opening ODI

Pepsi Cup In the year of 2000 first time Sourav Ganguly Captaincy - South Africa tour of India 5-match one-day international series of the 1st ODI match played between South Africa and India at Kochi in 9th March 2000.

India chase down the target of 302, Ajay Jadeja and Robin Singh stars as India last over thriller 3-wicket victory over South Africa in the first one-day International match.

In this match South Africa captain Hansie Cronje won the toss and elected batted first - their opener Gary Kirsten and Herschell Gibbs start brilliantly they pick-up the land quickly and get into good position with the front 102 runs partnership in 13.2 overs.

It's really has been very good indeed the partnership of 80 balls in 64 minutes it's been fabulous to watch the Innings - Gibbs and Kirsten no chance given to Indian bowlers - they brings up the 200 after 34 overs.

Gary Kirsten played very well - who was made the 9th one day international Hundred, his 3rd Hundred against India - being second hundred in India.

However, Herschell Gibbs bringing up his 3rd ODI hundred with Magnificent boundary at over the top cover drive.

Gibbs first hundred against India other two centuries were scored against the West Indies and Australia, The One hundred against Australia in the World Cup 1999 at Headingley.

Gibbs and Gary Kirsten not giving up their wicket - India bowlers tired to break the huge partnership.

But Indian Spinner Sunil Joshi break the partnership - Herschell Gibbs scored fabulous 111 off 127 deliveries with 2 sixes and eleven electrify boundaries - He was catch out by Ajit Agarkar - who was take the stunning running catch at boundary line.

South Africa 235 for lost first wicket - Herschel Gibbs and Gary Kirsten added 235-run stand for first wicket partnership.

Gary Kirsten continues his brilliant batting after his hundred - He was scored a 115 off 123 deliveries with 174 minutes including 12 terrific fours.

He was catch out by Ajay Jadeja at Point - Surprising Rahul Dravid takes the his first wicket with his good bowling - Rahul Dravid, who was bowling first time in one day cricket history.

South African opener makes the two centuries in this match, South Africa lost 249 for 2 wickets in 42.2 overs.

At this stage South Africa very strong position, in the Over of 42.6 ball Rahul Dravid got a another wicket - Lance Klusener goes to duck out with caught and ball by Rahul Dravid.

Rahul Dravid took the 2-wickets in an over in this match - Jacques Kallis played brilliant innings - He was added unbeaten 37 off 30 balls and South Africa Captain contributed run a ball 19 helped to South Africa set-up the huge total of 301 for 3 in 50 overs.

India 302 run needed to win from 50 overs with required rate over six runs per over - India have a good batting line-up.

First ball of the innings Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly on strike against Shaun Pollock - it's starts of the boundary at the off side in first ball.

Ganguly hits another two boundary at off side in the fourth and fifth ball in the first over - India started tremendously in first over against Pollack.

India Captain Sourav Ganguly started very well - He was contributed 31 off 28 deliveries with 6 spectacular fours.

Ganguly was catch out behind the stumps by Mark Boucher with bowl by Shaun Pollock in the 7th over - India 45 for lost first wicket.

Rahul Dravid played sensible cricket, Dravid lovely start with nice straight drive, Dravid added 25 with Sachin Tendulkar for second wicket.

Dravid Pavilion with 17 off 21 balls - He was catch out by Henry Williams at mid-off - Hansie Cronje strike the second wicket for South Africa - at this stage India 70 for 2 in the 11.1 over.

Sachin Tendulkar was pavilion with 26 off 25 balls including 4 Fantastic fours.

Tendulkar has flicked that one away on the onside and Unfortunately he's flicked at the backward point easy catch taken by Henry Williams and bowl by Nantie Hayward.

Sunil Joshi comes at Number 5, He was hit few hard hitting shots to scored 13 off 14 balls with 2 boundaries.

Joshi got out with run out by Williams,  Former India Captain Mohammad Azharuddin take the charge, He was played brilliantly with Ajay Jadeja.

Jadeja playing beautifully with bad balls, Azharuddin and Jadeja added 79-run stand for fifth wicket.

Jacques Kallis picked up the Mohammad Azharuddin's wicket - He was scored a sensibly 42 off 51 deliveries including two fours and one six.

Kallis was goes to catch out by Shaun Pollock at mid-on, at this stage India lost 180 for 5 wickets in 33 overs.

India required 122 runs from 102 balls and required rate almost 8 runs per over.

India's left-handed match finisher batsmen Robin Singh good support to Ajay Jadeja, who was played responsible innings to completd his fantastic fifty.

South Africa bowler Derek Crookes conceded 18 runs in 38 over of match with sixes comes from Ajay Jadeja.

Ajay Jadeja catch dropped at 63 by Derek Crookes at gully area.

Crookes attempting one hand stunning catch ball missed and he missed the second attempt.

In the same over next ball Jadeja back to focus and find the gap at backward point boundary and hit the one handed six in the current over by Nantie Hayward.

Ajay Jadeja - Robin Singh build the good partnership and scoreboard pushed to nearly target, both partnership added 92-run stand for sixth wicket.

Ajay Jadeja had to work hard in the beginning but as long as he was there, India had a good chance of making it to the target.

South African captain Hansie Cronje got his prized wicket, Dismissing the Ajay Jadeja for 92, which came in 109 balls including 8 glorious fours and 3 tremendous sixes.

After Ajay Jadeja exit, Sameer Dighe got out for 5 - Pollack strike the seventh wicket for India, At this Stage India required 15 runs from 13 balls.

Robin Singh and Anil Kumble match take to last over with singles and twos.

Robin Singh with a promising unbeaten 42 helped to India beat South Africa by 3 wickets in the last over 49.4.

Ajay Jadeja get the man of the match for his match winning batting performance.
