Three-wicket hauls from Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Dawlat Zadran and Gulbadin Naib's all-round helped to Afghanistan convincing five-wicket victory over Ireland, despite a Paul Stirling' superb 89 and take a 1-0 lead in a low-scoring game of the first ODI.

Match Stats : 
  • Afghanistan chased 162 was their seventh lowest successful run-chase in One-day international and It is their second lowest chase against Ireland in ODIs.
  • Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Dehradun became the 48th Indian venue to host a One-day international match and the 201st venue in the world to host a ODI match.
  • Ireland's 161 was their fourth lowest score against Afghanistan in One-day internationals.

Ireland scored 161 for all-out in 49.2 overs with top scorer by Paul Stirling struck 89 off 150-balls including 6-fours & 3-sixes.

George Dockrell scored 37 off 47-balls including 3-fours & a six and Kevin O'Brien 10.

Afghanistan best bowler by Mujeeb Ur Rahman picked up 3-wickets for 14-runs in 10-overs including three maidens, Dawlat Zadran takes 3-wickets for 35-runs in 10-overs includedastwo maidens, Gulbadin Naib took 2-wickets and one for Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan.

Afghanistan chased 165-5 in 41.5 overs with top scorer by Gulbadin Naib 46, Mohammad Shahzad 43, Hazratullah Zazai 25, Rahmat Shah 22 and Najibullah Zadran 12.

Ireland best bowler by Boyd Rankin took 2-48, Simi Singh, Barry McCarthy and George Dockrell each took one wickets.

Gulbadin Naib named Player of the match for his match-winning all-round performance scored a 46 off 61-balls including 6-fours and a six after taking 2-wickets for 20-runs in 7.2-overs.
