Shehan Madushanka's stunning debut hat-trick after Upul Tharanga's half-century helped to Sri Lanka comprehensive 79-run victory over Bangladesh, despite a fighting knock from Mahmudullah's 76 and clinch the trophy in a low-scoring game of the final of a Tri-nation series.

  • Sri Lanka's 79-run win was their ninth largest victory by terms of runs against Bangladesh in One-day internationals.
  • Shehan Madushanka became the second Sri Lankan bowler to claimed a hat-trick on debut match in One-day international after Wanindu Hasaranga and overall the fourth debutant in ODIs.
  • Shehan Madushanka became the sixth Sri Lankan player to take a hat-trick in One-day Internationals.
  • Sri Lanka's 221 was their sixth lowest score in the completed innings against Bangladesh in One-day internationals.
  • Bangladesh's 142 was their fourth lowest score against Sri Lanka at their home venue in One-day internationals.

  1. Bangladeshi left-arm spinner Taijul Islam took hat-trick against Zimbabwe at Mirpur in 2014-15.
  2. South Africa’s fast-bowler Kagiso Rabada hat-trick against Bangladesh at Mirpur in 2015.
  3. Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga hat-trick against Zimbabwe at Galle in 2017.

Sri Lanka scored 221 for all-out in exact 50 overs with top scorer by Upul Tharanga 56, Dinesh Chandimal struck 45 off 74-balls including a six. 

Niroshan Dickwella scored 42 off 57-balls including four boundaries, Kusal Mendis hammered a 28 off 9-balls including 3-sixes & 2-fours with strike rate of 311.11 and Dhananjay Silva 17.

Bangladesh best bolwer by Rubel Hossain claimed four-wicket haul for 46-runs from 10 overs, Mustafizur Rahman picked up 2-wickets, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mashrafe Mortaza and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each took one-wickets.

Bangladesh scored 142 for all-out in 41.1 overs with top scorer by Mahmudullah struck 76 off 92-balls including 6-fours & 3-sixes and Mushfiqur Rahim 22.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Debutant Shehan Madushanka - who claimed hat-trick on debut match in ODIs with removed of match-turning wicket Mahmudullah (76),  Mashrafe Mortaza (5) and Rubel Hossain (0).

Dushmantha Chameera and Akila Dananjay both took 2-wickets.

Upul Tharanga named Player of the match for his brilliant batting display of scoring 56-runs knocked off facing 99-balls including five boundaries.

Thisara Perera named player of the tournament for his all-round performance to contributed 134-runs and took 11-wickets.
