Kane Williamson's record-equal century, Half-centuries from Colin Munro and Henry Nicholls before Tim Southee and Trent Boult's combined 5-wickets helped to New Zealand cruising to via DLS method 61-run victory over Pakistan, despite a fighting knock from Fakhar Zaman's 82* and take a 1-0 lead in a rain-hit game of the first ODI.

  • New Zealand's 61-run win was their eighth largest victory by terms of runs in One-day internationals.
  • New Zealand's 315 was their second highest score against Pakistan in One-day internationals and the highest total by any team at Basin Reserve in ODIs, previous highest was 297 by Australia against New Zealand in 1998.

New Zealand scored 315-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Kane Williamson 115 - which was his 10th ODI hundred and his third century against Pakistan in ODIs.

Colin Munro hammered a 58 off 35-balls including 6-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 165.71, Henry Nicholls scored 50 off 43-balls included 4-fours and Martin Guptill 48 off 72-balls - who fell two-run short of his half-century - including four-fours & 2-sixes

Pakistan best bowler by Hasan Ali picked up 3-wickets, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Amir, Faheem Ashraf and Rumman Raees each took one-wickets.

Pakistan scored 166-6 in 30.1-overs - due to rain DLS par score 227 after 30.1 overs Pakistan were 61 runs behind of the par score when the rain-thrash the match.

Pakistan top scorer by Fakhar Zaman cracked a unbeaten 82 off 86-balls including 5-fous & 4-sixes, Shadab Khan struck 28 off 32-balls included 4-fours and Faheem Ashraf 17 not out.

New Zealand best bowler by Tim Southee picked up 3-wickets for 22-runs in 6.1 overs, Trent Boult took 2-wickets and one for Todd Astle.

Kane Williamson named player of the match for his masterful 115-runs knocked off facing 117-balls including 8-fours and a six.
