Alex Hales and Jason Roy's centuries powers to England's record-breaking ten-wicket victory over Sri Lanka and wrap up 2-0 lead in a one-sided epic game of the second ODI.

Match Stats : 
  • England chased 256 was their highest successful run-chase against Sri Lanka in One-day internationals, surpassing the their previous highest chase was 245 at The Oval in 1988.
  • The ten-wicket win is England's joint largest victory by terms of wickets remaining in One-day international, It is their sixth time win by ten wickets and third time England had defeated Sri Lanka by ten-wickets in ODIs. It is the fifth such defeat for Sri Lanka.
  • 256* : Alex Hales and Jason Roy set up the record first-wicket partnership for England in One-day International, previously held by the 200-run stand between Marcus Trescothick and Vikram Solanki against South Africa at The Oval in 2003, also England's highest any-wicket stand in ODI cricket history and the fifth highest opening stand in ODIs.
  • Alex Hales' 133* was his highest score for England in One-day international and the highest-score by an England batsman against Sri Lanka in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 130 held by David Gower at Taunton in the 1983 World Cup.
  • This is the 12th instance of England's two or three batsmen were scores of centuries or more runs in their innings in One-day international and It is their first such instance against Sri Lanka in ODIs.

Sri Lanka scored 254-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Upul Tharanga cracked a unbeaten 53 off 49-runs including 5-four & a six.

Dinesh Chandimal scored 52 off 86-balls including three boundaries, Angelo Mathews struck 44 off 54-balls included 3-fours.

Kusal Perera hit 37 off 45-balls including 3-fours and Suraj Randiv 26 not out and Danushka Gunathilaka 22.

England best bowler by Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett both took 2-wickets and one for David Willey.

England chased 256-0 in 34.1 overs with top scorer by Alex Hales 133 not out - which was his 3rd ODI hundred and his first century against Sri Lanka in ODIs.

Jason Roy hammered a unbeaten 112 off 95-balls - who scored his maiden ODI hundred - including 7-fours and 4-sixes with strike rate of 117.89.

Alex Hales named player of the match for his match-winning career-best unbeaten 133-runs knocked off facing 110-balls including 10-fours and 6-sixes with strike rate of 120.90.
