Half-centuries from Sohaib Maqsood, Fawad Alam and Ahmed Shahzad's 49 helped to Pakistan pulled off a memorable four-wicket victory via DLS method over Sri Lanka and take 1-0 lead in a shortened thriller game of the first ODI.

  • 147 : Fawad Alam and Sohaib Maqsood set up the record sixth-wicket partnership for Pakistan in One-day internationals, previously held by the 144-run stand between Imran Khan and Shahid Mahboob against same opponent at Leeds in the 1983 World Cup.

Sri Lanka scored 275-7 in the allotted 45 overs - due to a shower that began six overs into the game and lasted just under an hour to match reduced 50 to 45-overs per a side - with top scorer by Angelo Mathews struck 89 off 85-balls including 9-fours and 2-sixes.

Mahela Jayawardene scored 63 off 66-balls included eight boundaries, Ashan Priyanjan blasted a unbeaten 39 off 15-ball included 8-fours with strike rate of 260, Kumar Sangakkara 25 and Upul Tharanga 18.

Pakistan best bowler by Wahab Riaz picked up 3-wickets, Mohammad Irfan took two-wickets and one for Mohammad Hafeez.

Pakistan chased 277-6 in 44.5 overs - due to shower a revised target of 275 in 45-overs with top scorer by Sohail Maqsood 89 not out, Fawad Alam struck 62 off 61-balls including 7-fours.

Ahmed Shehzad 49 off 61-balls - who fell one-run short of his half-century - including four boundaries and Mohammad Hafeez 21 and Umar Akmal 15.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Thisara Perera, Angelo Mathews both took 2-wickets and one for Rangana Herath - Lasith Malinga
