All-round display by Corey Anderson's fifty with two-wickets, Half-centuries from Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor and Mitchell McClenaghan's four-for helped to New Zealand hard-fought 24-run victory over India, despite a brilliant century from Virat Kohli and take a 1-0 lead in the first ODI.

  • New Zealand's 24-run win was their second smallest victory by terms of runs against India in ODIs after their 22-run win at Brisbane in 1981.
  • 121 : Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor set up the third highest third-wicket partnership for New Zealand against India in One-day internationals.
  • Ross Taylor became the 14th New Zealand player to score fifty or more runs with a single boundary in One-day internationals.
  • India lost their last six wickets for 44-runs - which was their 13th worst six-wicket collapse against New Zealand in One-day international. They went from 224 for 4 to 268 for all out.
  • Virat Kohli's 123 his fourth highest score for India in One-day international and the joint ninth highest-score by an Indian batsman against New Zealand in ODIs, jointly with Rahul Dravid and Yusuf Pathan.

New Zealand scored 292-7 in 50 overs with top scorer by Kane Williamson struck 71 off 88-balls including seven boundaries, Corey Anderson 68.

Ross Taylor scored 55 off 82-balls including a boundary, Luke Ronchi hammered a 30 off 18-balls included 2-sixes & 2-fours with strike rate of 166.67.

Brendon McCullum cracked a 30 off 25-balls including 4-fours with strike rate of 120 and Jesse Ryder hit 18 off 16-balls included 3-fours & a six.

India best bowler by Mohammed Shami claimed a career-best 4-wickets for 55-runs in 9-overs, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma each took one-wickets.

India scored 268 for all-out in 48.4 overs with top scorer by Virat Kohli 123 off 111-balls - which was his 18th ODI hundred, his second century against New Zealand and his 12th century in a run-chasing in ODIs - including 11-fours and 2-sixes with strike rate of 110.81.

MS Dhoni scored 40 off 46-balls including 2-sixes & 2-fours, Shikhar Dhawan hit 32 off 46-balls included 3-fours and Suresh Raina 18.

New Zealand best bowler by Mitchell McClenaghan claimed 4-wickets for 68-runs in 10-overs, Corey Anderson took 2-wickets, Kane Williamson, Adam Milne and Tim Southee each took one-wickets.

Corey Anderson named Player of the match for his all-round performance to took 2-wickets for 51-runs in 10-overs after smashed a unbeaten quick-fire 68-runs knocked off facing 40-balls including 4-sixes and 3-fours with strike rate of 170.
