All-round Wasim Akram brilliance and brilliant half-centuries from Imran Khan, Javed Miandad guided Pakistan majestic 22-run victory over England and lift the their maiden World Cup title in the final of a Benson and Hedges World Cup.

Pakistan scored 249-6 in 50 overs with top scorer by Imran Khan struck 72 off 110-balls including five-fours and a six, Javed Miandad cracked a 58 off 98-deliveries included four-fours, Inzamam-ul-Haq scored 42 off 35-balls.

Wasim Akram - who hammered a rapid 18-ball 33-runs including four boundaries with strike rate of 183.33.

England best bowler by Derek Fringle picked up 3-wickets, Ian Botham and Richard IlIingworth each took one-wickets.

England scored 227 for all-out in 49.2 overs with top scorer by Neil Fairbrothrer struck 62 off 70-balls including 3-fours, Allan Lamb cracked a 31 off 41-balls included two-fours, Graham Gooch scored 29 off consuming 66 deliveries with a boundary, Derek Fringle 18 not out and Graeme Hick 17.

Pakistan best bowler by Mushtaq Ahmed, Wasim Akram both picked up 3-wickets, Aaqib Javed took two-wickets and one for Imran Khan.

Wasim Akram named Player of the match for his match-winning all-round performance to picking up 3-wickets and scoring valuable unbeaten 33-runs knocked off 18-balls including four-fours.
