England chased 179-3 in 37.3 overs with top scorer by Jonathan Trott cracked a unbeaten 82 off 84-balls including 11-fours.
Joe Root 48 off 71-balls - who fell two-run short of his half-century - including seven boundaries, Ian Bell 20 and Eoin Morgan 15 not out.
South Africa best bowler by Rory Kleinveldt, JP Duminy and Chris Morris each took one-wickets.
