Murali Kartik's record six-wicket haul before An unbeaten 52-run stand for the ninth-wicket between Zaheer Khan and Murali Kartik helped India steal to an unlikely famous two-wicket victory over Australia and reduce the margin of defeat in the series to 4-2 in a low-scoring thriller of the seventh ODI.

  • India chased 194 was their fifth lowest successful run-chase against Australia in One-day internationals.
  • Murali Kartik's 6 for 27 was the third best bowling figures for India in One-day international and the best bowling figures by an Indian bowler against Australia in ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 6 for 42 held by Ajit Agarkar at Melbourne in 2004.
  • Murali Kartik's 6 for 27 was the best bowling figures by a left-arm spinner in One-day international cricket history, surpassing the previous record of 6 for 29 held by Sanath Jayasuriya against England at Moratuwa in 1993.
  • 52* : Zaheer Khan and Murali Kartik set up the joint second highest ninth-wicket partnership for India against Australia in One-day international, jointly unbeaten 52-run stand held by between Javagal Srinath and Anil Kumble at Bengaluru in the 1996 Titan Cup and India's joint sixth highest ninth-wicket stand in ODIs.
  • Australia's 193 was their third lowest score against India in Indian soil in One-day internationals.

Australia scored 193 for all-out in 41.3 overs with top scorer by Ricky Ponting struck 57 off 78-balls including nine boundaries, Mitchell Johnson 24, James Hopes 22, Adam Gilchrist and Brad Haddin both scored 19-runs.

India best bowler by Murali Kartik 6-27, RP Singh took 2-wickets and one for Zaheer Khan - Irfan Pathan.

India chased 195-8 in 46-overs with top scorer by Robin Uthappa 47 - who fell three-run short of his half-century including four-fours and two-sixes.

Zaheer Khan scored a unbeaten 31 off 43-balls included 3-fours & a six, Sachin Tendulkar and Murali Karthik both scored 21-runs.

Australia best bowler by Mitchell Johnson picked up 3-wickets, Nathan Bracken took two-wickets, Michael Clarke, James Hopes and Brett Lee each took one-wickets.

Murali Kartik named Player of the match for his excellent spin bowling performance to claimed a career-best 6-wicket haul for 27-runs in 10-overs including three maidens.

Andrew Symonds earned player of the series for his sensational batting display of scoring 365-runs with average of 73.
