The 24-year-old paceman Lasith Malinga went on to complete a dramatic hat-trick including a four-wickets in four-balls against South Africa in the World Cup Super Eights match at Guyana.

* Lasith Malinga registered the second Sri Lankan bowler to claim hat-trick in World Cups after Chaminda Vaas.
Lasith Malinga's hat-trick was the 27th in ODI history, and the fifth in World Cups after Chetan Sharma, Saqlain Mushtaq, Chaminda Vaas and Brett Lee are the others to take a hat-trick in World Cups.
Lasith Malinga removed Shaun Pollock (13), Andrew Hall (0) and The first ball of the next over produced the hat-trick, when the set Jacques Kallis (86) nicked to the wicket-keeper before a brute of a yorker zoomed past Makhaya Ntini (0).
