Craig McMillan's record-breaking fastest fifty and Scott Styris's assault sets up to New Zealand thrilling 5-run victory over England, despite a maiden blazing half-century from Darren Maddy in a nail-biter game of the 17th match of a World Twenty20.

  • New Zealand's 5-run win was their smallest victory by terms of runs in T20 international, previous narrowest victory by 10-runs against India at Johannesburg in this tournament.
  • New Zealand's 164 was their joint third highest score in T20 internationals.
  • England's 159 was their sixth highest score in T20 internationals.
  • Craig McMillan equalled a 27-ball joint sixth fastest fifty in T20 international, jointly with Loots Bosman, Kevin Pietersen and Shoaib Malik, It is the joint third fastest fifty in World Twenty20, jointly with Kevin Pietersen, Shoaib Malik and the fastest half-century by an New Zealand batsman in T20I cricket history, surpassing the previous record of 30-ball half-century held by Ross Taylor against Sri Lanka at Johannesburg in this tournament.
  • 60 : Scott Styris and Craig McMillan set up the record fifth-wicket partnership for New Zealand in T20 international, previously held by the 30-run stand between Scott Styris and Jacob Oram against South Africa at Johannesburg in 2005 and New Zealand's fourth highest any-wicket stand in T20Is.
  • 62 : Darren Maddy and Vikram Solanki set up the record first-wicket partnership for England in T20 international, previously held by the 59-run stand between Marcus Trescothick and Andrew Strauss against Sri Lanka at Southampton in the last year and England's fourth highest any-wicket stand in T20Is.

New Zealand scored 164-9 in 20 overs with top scorer by Craig McMillan 57, Scott Styris struck 42 off 32-balls including 4-fours & a six and Daniel Vettori 17 not out.

England best bowler by Darren Maddy, James Anderson both took two-wickets, Andrew Flintoff, Paul Collingwood and Stuart Broad each took one-wickets.

England scored 159-8 in 20 overs with top scorer by Darren Maddy hammered a 50 off 31-ball 50-runs including 4-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 161.29.

Kevin Pietersen, Vikram Solanki, Luke Wright each scored 24-runs and Owais Shah 21.

New Zealand best bowler by Daniel Vettori, Shane Bond both took 2-wickets and one for Chris Martin.
