Ricky Ponting's unbeaten 98* before Michael Kasprowicz four-wicket led Australia crushing 44-run victory New Zealand in the inaugural Twenty20 international at Eden Park.

* Ricky Ponting became the first batsman to score a fifty on T20I debut match and also became the first ever batsman to score fifty in the first ever T20 international cricket history.

* 30 : Ricky Ponting - who became the first batsman to score most runs off one-over in T20I cricket history.

* 30 : Daryl Tuffey - who became the first bowler to conceded most runs off one-over in T20I cricket history.

* 30-runs : Number of runs that were scored in the 19th over from Daryl Tuffey, which is the first productive over in T20I cricket history.

Australia scored mammoth total of 214-5 in 20 overs with top scorer by Ricky Ponting 98 not out - who became the highest scorer in the first ever T20I match.

Andrew Symonds hammered a 13-ball 32-runs including four-fours and two-sixes with strike rate of 246.15, Michael Hussey cracked a unbeaten 31 off 15-balls included 3-sixes and a four with striking rate of 206.66 and Simon Katich scored 30.

New Zealand best bowler by Kyle Mills picked up 3-wickets, Chris Cairns and Daryl Tuffey each took one-wickets.

New Zealand scored 170 for all-out in 20 overs with top scorer by Scott Styris cracked a 66 off 39-balls including 6-fours and 3-sixes with strike rate of 169.23,  Brendon McCullum struck 36 off 24-balls included five-fours and a six with striking rate of 150, Stephen Fleming and Jeff Wilson both scored 18-runs.

Australia best bowler by Michael Kasprowicz claimed 4-wicket haul for 29-runs in 4-overs, Glenn McGrath takes 2-wickets, James Hopes, Brett Lee and Andrew Symonds each took one-wickets.

Ricky Ponting named Player of the match for his masterclass innings to scoring a unbeaten 98 off 55-balls including 8-fours and five-sixes with strike rate of 178.18.
