Pace-bowlers attack before Impressive half-centuries from Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke guided Australia comfortable seven-wicket victory over England, despite a brilliant century from Kevin Pietersen in the Super Eights clash of a ICC Cricket World Cup.


* Kevin Pietersen hammered his fourth ODI century, like his other three came in a losing cause.

England scored 247 for all-out in 49.5 overs with top scorer by Kevin Pietersen struck 104 off 122-balls - which was his 4th ODI hundred including six-fours and a six, Ian Bell cracked a 77 off 90-balls included nine boundaries and Ravi Bopara 21.

Australia best bowler by Nathan Bracken, Shaun Tait, Glenn McGrath each picked up 3-wickets and one for Brad Hogg.

Australia chased 248-3 in 47.2 overs with top scorer by Ricky Ponting struck 86 off 106-balls including 11-fours, Michael Clarke cracked a unbeaten 55 off 63-balls included two-fours.

Matthew Hayden scored 41 off 50-balls with six boundaries, Andrew Symonds cracked a run-a-ball 28-runs including four-fours & a six and Adam Gilchrist scored 27.

England best bowler by Andrew Flintoff and Paul Collingwood each took one-wickets.

Shaun Tait named Player of the match for his excellent bowling performance to picking up 3-wickets for 41-runs in 10-overs.
