A superb unbeaten 31 from Dinesh Karthik led to debutants India pulled off a last-ball thrilling six-wicket victory over South Africa and India registered the their historic first-ever T20I win in a low-scoring thriller of the one-off T20 international.

Virender Sehwag captained India for the first time in his debut T20I match. He became the first debut player to captain for India in a T20I. Virender Sehwag became the first-ever player to captain for India in a Twenty20 international cricket history. Dinesh Karthik became the first Indian player to win the Man-of-the-match award on debut match. Dinesh Karthik became the first Indian player to win the Player-of-the-match award in T20I cricket history.

South Africa scored 126-9 in 20 overs with top scorer by Albie Morkel cracked a 27 off 18-balls including 3-sixes and a four with strike rate of 150, Justin Kemp 22, Johan van der wath 21 and Graeme Smith 16.

India best bowler by Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan both takes two-wickets, Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth each took one-wickets.

India chase down the target of 127 for 4 in 19.5 overs with top scorer by Dinesh Mongia struck 38 off 45-balls including 4-fours & a six.

Virender Sehwag cracked a 34 off 29-balls including 5-fours & a six and Dinesh Karthik 31 not out.

South Africa best bowler by Charl Langeveldt took 2-wickets and one for Robin Peterson.

Dinesh Karthik named Player of the match for his match-winning unbeaten 31-runs knocked off facing 28-balls including 3-fours and a six.
