Thisara Perera holds nerve as Sri Lanka tense 2-run victory via DLS method over Australia and clinch the two-match series 2-0 whitewash in a rain-truncated thrilling game of the second T20I.

Match Stats : 
  • Sri Lanka's 2-run win was their joint smallest victory by terms of runs in T20 internationals, jointly their narrowest 2-run win against England at Southampton in 2006.
  • Sri Lanka's 161 was their second highest score against Australia in T20 international and It is their highest total in Australian soil in T20Is, previous highest was 139 against Australia at Sydney in this series' first T20I.
  • This is the second time Sri Lanka have whitewashed their oppositions in a bilateral two-match series in T20 international and also their second against Australia in T20Is.
  • This is the fourth time Australia have suffered a clean sweep in a bilateral two-match series in T20 internationals.
  • 63 : Mahela Jayawardene and Jeevan Mendis set up the second highest fourth-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Australia in T20 international and Sri Lanka's fourth highest fourth-wicket stand in T20Is.
  • 59* : Mahela Jayawardene and Thisara Perara set up the record fifth-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka in T20 internationals, previously held by the 56-run stand between Angelo Mathews and Chamara Kapugedera against India at Gros Islet in the 2010 World Twenty20.

Sri Lanka scored 161-4 in 20 overs with top scorer by Mahela Jayawardene cracked a unbeaten 61 off 45-balls including 5-fours & 2-sixes, Thisara Perera 35 not out, Jeevan Mendis 25 and Kusal Perera 15.

Australia best bowler by Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner, Xavier Doherty and Ben Laughlin each took one-wickets.

Australia scored 119-3 in 15 overs due to rain revised target of 122 in 15-overs - with top scorer by Shaun Marsh scored a unbeaten 47 off 40-balls including 2-sixes & 2-fours and George Bailey struck 45 off 36-balls including four boundaries.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Nuwan Kulasekara, Ajantha Mendis and Thisara Perera each took one-wickets.

Thisara Perera named Player of the match for his all-round performance to scored a unbeaten rapid 35 off 15-balls and took 1-wicket for 25-runs in three overs.
