Bowlers attack before Openers Brendon McCullum's history half-century and Martin Guptill's 40* steers to New Zealand's record ten-wicket victory over Zimbabwe and take a 1-0 lead in a one-sided game of the first T20I.

  • New Zealand chased 124 was their sixth highest successful run-chase in T20 internationals.
  • The ten-wicket win was New Zealand's second and the seventh overall in Twenty20 internationals. It is also the first such defeat for Zimbabwe.
  • Brendon McCullum's 81* was his second highest score for New Zealand in T20 internationals.
  • Brendon McCullum became the first New Zealand batsman to score a fifty against Zimbabwe in T20 international cricket history.
  • 127* : Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill set up the record first-wicket partnership for New Zealand against Zimbabwe in T20 international, previously held by the 7-run stand between Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder at Providence in the 2010 World Twenty20, It is the New Zealand's second highest opening stand in T20Is and the ninth highest first-wicket stand in T20Is.
  • Zimbabwe's 123 was their joint sixth lowest score in T20 international and It is their second worst total against New Zealand in T20Is.

Zimbabwe scored 123-8 in 20 overs with top scorer by Brendan Taylor cracked a unbeaten 50 off 46-balls including five boundaries, Debutant Forster Mutizwa - who scored run-a-ball 16-runs on his debut T20I match and Elton Chigumbura 14.

New Zealand best bowler by Kyle Mills, Nathan McCullum both took 2-wickets, Jacob Oram, Luke Woodcock each takes 1-wickets and Debutant Doug Bracewell - who took one-wicket on his debut T20I match.

New Zealand chased 127-0 in 13.3 overs with top scorer by Brendon McCullum 81 not out and Martin Guptill cracked a unbeaten 40 off 36-balls including 2-fours and 2-sixes.

Brendon McCullum named Player of the match for his match-winning unbeaten rapid 81-runs knocked off facing 46-balls including 6-sixes and 5-fours with strike rate of 176.08.
