Stuart Broad's record-breaking four-for, Steven Finn and Luke Wright's combined 5-wickets after Assault from top six batsmen helped to England comprehensive 40-run victory over New Zealand and take a 1-0 lead in a high-scoring game of the first T20I.

  • England's 40-run win was their sixth largest victory by terms of runs in T20 international and It is their second biggest win against New Zealand in T20Is.
  • England's 15-sixes was the third most sixes in an innings in T20 internationals.
  • England's 214 was their highest score in T20 international cricket history, previous highest was 202 against South Africa at Johannesburg in 2009 and the joint seventh highest total in T20Is.

  • 60 : Michael Lumb and Luke Wright set up the second highest second-wicket partnership for England against New Zealand in T20 international and England's ninth highest second-wicket stand in T20Is.

England scored mammoth total of 214-7 in 20 overs with top scorer by Eoin Morgan blasted a 46 off 26-balls including 4-fours & 3-sixes with strike rate of 176.92.

Luke Wright hammered a 42 off 20-balls including 4-sixes & 3-fours with strike rate of 210, Jonny Bairstow blasted a 38 off 22-balls included 3-fours & 2-sixes with strike-rate of 172.72.

Jos Buttler blasted a unbeaten 32 off 16-balls including 3-sixes & 2-fours with strike rate of 200, Michael Lumb 22 and Alex Hales 21.

New Zealand best bowler by debutant Trent Boult - who took 2-wickets on his debut T20I match, Andrew Ellis, Ronnie Hira both takes two-wickets and one for Mitchell McClenaghan.

New Zealand scored 174-9 in 20 overs with top scorer by Martin Guptill struck 44 off 32-balls including 3-fours & 2-sixes, Colin Munro 28, Ronnie Hira 20 not out.

Debutant Hamish Rutherford - who scored 18 off 11-balls on his debut T20I match.

England best bowler by Stuart Broad claimed a career-best 4-wickets for 24-runs in 4-overs, Steven Finn picked up 3-wickets and Luke Wright took 2-wickets.
