Lasith Malinga's four-wicket haul before Rohit Sharma's classy 42 sets up to Mumbai Indians hard-fought five-wicket victory over Deccan Chargers, despite a Dale Steyn's fiery spell in a low-scoring encounter of the 40th match of a Indian Premier League.

  • Lasith Malinga's 4 for 16 was his second best bowling figures for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League and the best-bowling-figures by an MI bowler against Deccan Chargers in IPL, surpassing the previous record of 4 for 20 held by Munaf Patel at Visakhapatnam earlier in this season.
  • Deccan Chargers' 100 was their second lowest score in Indian Premier League and it is their worst total against Mumbai Indians in IPL, previous lowest was 115 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai in 2010 IPL.

DC scored 100 in 18.4 overs with top scorer by Shikhar Dhawan cracked a 29 off 32-balls including three boundaries.

Jean-Paul Duminy hit a unbeaten 25 off 24-balls including 3-fours and Parthiv Patel scored 19 off 18-balls contained one-six & a four.

MI best bowler by Lasith Malinga claimed a 4-wickets for 16-runs in 3.4-overs, Harbhajan Singh, James Franklin both took 2-wickets and one for RP Singh - Munaf Patel.

MI chased 101-5 in 18.1 overs with top scorer by Rohit Sharma struck 42 off 48-balls including 4-fours & a six.

Ambati Rayudu hit a unbeaten 19 off 15-balls including 2-fours and Sachin Tendulkar scored a run-a-ball 14-runs included a boundary.

DC best bowler by Dale Steyn captured two-wickets, Jean-Paul Duminy, Ashish Reddy and Veer Pratap Singh each took one-wickets.

Dale Steyn named Player of the match for his economical pace bowling attack to took 2-wickets for 10-runs in 4-overs.
