* Chris Gayle became the fourth player to score two triple centuries in Test matches after Don Bradman, Brian Lara and Virender Sehwag.

* Chris Gayle became the second West Indies batsman to score two triple centuries in Test matches after Brian Lara.

* Chris Gayle's 333 was the fourth highest score for West Indies in Test matches and the highest score by any team batsman against Sri Lanka in Test cricket, surpassing the previous record of 313 held by Younis Khan (PAK) at Karachi in 2009.

* 9 : Chris Gayle hit the most sixes in an innings for West Indies in Test matches and the joint fifth in the list of most sixes in an innings in Tests.
