Javagal Srinath became the first Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in ODI cricket history. Javagal Srinath became the second Indian bowler to take two five-wicket hauls in ODIs after Kris Srikkanth.

Sri Lanka scored 203 for all-out in 49.4 overs with top scorer by Roshan Mahanama cracked a 73 off 124-balls including 4-fours & a six.

Hashan Tillakaratne struck 35 off 44-balls including 2-fours, Aravinda de Silva hit 33 off 47-balls included one-six & a four and Romesh Kaluwitharana scored a run-a-ball 20-runs contained a boundary.

India best bowler by Javagal Srinath 5-24, Rajesh Chauhan took 2-wickets and one for Manoj Prabhakar - Sachin Tendulkar.

India chase down the target of 204, finishing at 205-3 in 44.4 overs with top scorer by Vinod Kambli struck 78 off 100-balls including 9-fours.

Mohammad Azharuddin cracked a unbeaten 75 off 105-balls including 4-fours & 2-sixes.

Sachin Tendulkar hit a unbeaten 26 off 30-balls including 4-fours and Manoj Prabhakar cracked a 20 off 33-balls included 3-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Pramodya Wickramasinghe took 2-wickets for 13-runs in 6-overs including a maiden and one for Dulip Liyanage picked up one-wicket.
