Devon Conway's 59-ball unbeaten 99* before Pace bowling duo Tim Southee, Trent Boult's eary attack and Ish Sodhi's record-breaking four-for helped to New Zealand's record 53-run victory over Australia and take a 1-0 lead in the first T20I.

Match Stats :  New Zealand's 53-run win was their largest victory by terms of runs against Australia in T20 internationals, previously they won by 8-runs at Dharamsala in the 2016 World Twenty20. Devon Conway became the first New Zealand batsman to remain not out on 99 in T20 international cricket history and overall the fourth player in T20Is after Luke Wright, Dawid Malan and Mohammad Hafeez. Devon Conway's unbeaten 99 was the ninth highest score for New Zealand in T20 international and the third highest score by an New Zealand batsman against Australia in T20Is. Ish Sodhi's 4 for 28 was his best bowling performance for New Zealand in T20 international and the best bowling figures by an New Zealand bowler against Australia in T20Is, surpassing the previous record of 3 for 17 held by Mitchell McClenaghan at Dharamsala in the 2016 World Twenty20. New Zealand's 184 was their third highest score against Australia in T20 internationals. Australia's 131 was their lowest score in the completed innings against New Zealand in T20 internationals, previous lowest was 134 at Dharamsala in the 2016 World Twenty20. 74 : Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips set up the record fourth-wicket partnership for New Zealand against Australia in T20 international, previously held by the 58-run stand between Brendon McCullum and Grant Elliott at Sydney in 2009 and New Zealand's sixth highest fourth-wicket stand in T20Is.

New Zealand scored 184-5 in 20 overs with top scorer by Devon Conway 99 not out, Glenn Phillips blasted a 30 off 20-balls including 3-sixes with strike rate of 150 and James Neesham 26.

Australia best bowler by Jhye Richardson, Daniel Sam's both took 2-wickets and one for Marcus Stoinis.

Australia scored 131 for all-out in 17.3 overs with top scorer by Mitchell Marsh struck 45 off 33-balls including 5-fours & 2-sixes, Ashton Agar 23 and Adam Zampa 13 not out.
