Alex Carey's maiden captaincy debut half-century and Ashton Turner's 49 before Mitchell Starc's five-for and Josh Hazlewood's three-for helped to Australia cruising to via DLS method 133-run victory over West Indies, despite a maiden five-wicket haul from Hayden Walsh and take a 1-0 lead in a rain-affected one-sided game of the first ODI.

  • Australia's 133-run win was their third largest victory by terms of runs against West Indies in One-day international and their fifth biggest win West Indies soil in ODIs.
  • 104 : Alex Carey and Ashton Turner set up the seventh highest fifth-wicket partnership for Australia against West Indies in One-day internationals.
  • Hayden Walsh's 5 for 39 was his best bowling performance for West Indies in One-day international and the eighth best bowling figures by an West Indies bowler against Australia in ODIs.

Australia scored 252-9 in 49 overs - due to three rain interruptions cut the match to 49 overs per side - with top scorer by Alex Carey cracked a 67 off 87-balls including 5-fours & 2-sixes.

Ashton Turner 49 off 45-balls - who fell one-run short of his half-century - including 2-sixes & 2-fours, Josh Phillips scored 39 off 42-balls included 4-fours & 2-sixes.

Debutant Ben McDermott - who scored 28 off 48-balls on his debut ODI match - including two boundaries and Mitchell Marsh 20.

West Indies best bowler by Hayden Walsh claimed a career-best 5-wicket haul for 39-runs in 10-overs, Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein both took 2-wickets.

West Indies scored 123 for all-out in 26.2 overs with top scorer by Kieron Pollard struck 56 off 57-balls including 5-fours & 3-sixes.

Hayden Walsh hit 20 off 26-balls including 4-fours and Alzarri Joseph 17.

Australia best bowler by Mitchell Starc 5-48, Josh Hazlewood picked up 3-wickets for 11-runs in 6-overs including a maiden, Mitchell Marsh and Adam Zampa both took one-wickets.

Mitchell Starc named Player of the match for his brilliant pace bowling attack to claimed a 5-wicket haul for 48-runs in 8-overs including a maiden.
