Suryakumar Yadav's blazing half-century and Rohit Sharma's superb 48 helped to India hard-fought five-wicket victory over New Zealand, despite a Martin Guptill - Mark Chapman's fifties and take a 1-0 lead in a tight-game of the first T20I.

New Zealand's 164 was their tenth highest score against India in T20 international and It is their third highest total in Indian soil in T20Is. 109 : Martin Guptill and Mark Chapman set up the record second-wicket partnership for New Zealand against India in T20 international, previously held by the 74-run stand between Colin Munro and Tim Seifert at Wellington in the last year and New Zealand's fourth highest second-wicket stand in T20Is. 50 : KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma set up the fifth highest first-wicket partnership for India against New Zealand in T20 internationals. 59 : Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav set up the fifth highest second-wicket partnership for India against New Zealand in T20 internationals.

New Zealand scored 164-5 in 20 overs with top scorer by Martin Guptill hammered a 70 off 42-balls including 4-sixes & 3-fours with strike rate of 166.66.

Mark Chapman cracked a 63 off 50-balls including 6-fours & 2-sixes and Tim Seifert scored 12 off 11-balls included 2-fours.

India best bowler by Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar both took 2-wickets and one for Mohammed Siraj - Deepak Chahar.

India chased 166-5 in 19.4 overs with top scorer by Suryakumar Yadav hammered a 62 off 40-balls, Rohit Sharma cracked a 48 off 36-balls including 5-fours & 2-sixes.

Rishabh Pant scored a run-a-ball unbeaten 17-runs including 2-fours and KL Rahul hit 15 off 14-balls contained one-six & a four.

New Zealand best bowler by Trent Boult takes 2-wickets, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner and Tim Southee each took one-wickets.

Suryakumar Yadav named Player of the match for his match-winning career-best blazing 62 off 40-balls including 6-fours & 3-sixes with strike rate of 155.
