Ross Edwards became the first Australian batsman to score a fifty against West Indies in One-day internationals. Ross Edwards became the fifth Australian batsman to score a fifty or more runs in World Cups. Rod Marsh became the sixth Australian batsman to score a fifty or more runs in World Cups. Alvin Kallicharran became the first West Indies batsman to score a fifty against Australia in One-day internationals. Australia scored modest total of 192 for all-out in 53.4 overs with top scorer by Ross Edwards struck 58 off 74-balls including 6-fours.

Rod Marsh scored a unbeaten 52 off 84-balls including 4-fours, Ian Chappell 25 and Greg Chappell 15.

West Indies best bowler by Andy Roberts picked up 3-wickets for 39-runs in 10.4-overs including a maiden, Viv Richards, Keith Boyce both took 2-wickets and one for Bernard Julien - Vanburn Holder.

West Indies chased 195-3 in 46 overs with top scorer by Alvin Kallicharran 78, Roy Fredericks scored 58 off consuming 105-deliveries including five boundaries, Rohan Kanhai 18 not out, Gordon Greenidge 16 and Viv Richards 15 not out.

Australia best bowler by Ashley Mallett, Max Walker and Dennis Lillee each took one-wickets.
