Sensational Dennis Amiss's historic debut century and Keith Fletcher's maiden half-century steers to England registered their first-ever ODI win over Australia and take a 1-0 lead in the first One-day international.

Australia scored 222-8 in 55 overs with top scorer by Ross Edwards struck 57 off 84-balls including 6-fours.

Ian Chappell cracked a 53 off 75-balls including 5-fours, Greg Chappell struck 40 off 66-balls included 3-fours and Keith Stackpole scored 37 off 62-balls including 6-fours.

England best bowler by Debutant Bob Woolmer - who took 3-wickets for 33-runs on his debut ODI match in 10-overs including a maiden, Geoff Arnold took 2-wickets and one for John Snow - Tony Greig.

England chased 226-4 in 49.1 overs with top scorer by Debutant Dennis Amiss - who scored 103 off 134-balls on his debut ODI match in cricket history.

Keith Fletcher struck 60 off 76-balls including 8-fours, Geoff Boycott scored 25 off 38-balls included 3-fours and John Hampshire hit 25 off 41-balls including 5-fours.

Australia best bowler by Debutant Graeme Watson - who took 2-wickets on his debut ODI match and Debutant Bob Massie - who took one-wicket on his debut ODI-match.

Dennis Amiss named Player of the match for record-breaking debut 103-runs knocked off facing 134-balls including 9-fours.
