An another brilliant batting display from Viv Richards' 97 before Andy Roberts' four-wicket haul and Clive Lloyd's match turning two wickets helped to West Indies comprehensive 36-run victory over England, despite a stunning batting display from Debutant Derek Randall's 88 and took an unbeatable 2-0 lead to seal the series in a reserved day used, rain-affected second ODI.

Match Stats :
  • West Indies' 36-run win was their largest victory by terms of runs in One-day internationals, previously they won by 17-runs against Australia at same venue in the inaugural 1975 World Cup final.
  • This is the first-ever reserved day used match in One-day international cricket history.
  • Andy Roberts's 4 for 27 was the joint second best bowling figures for West Indies in One-day international, It is the best bowling figures by an West Indies bowler against England in ODIs, surpassing the his own record of 4 for 32 at Scarborough in this series first ODI and the joint seventh best ODI figures, jointly with Geoff Arnold and Bernard Julien.
  • Viv Richards became the first West Indies batsman to dismissal on nervous nineties in One-day internationals cricket history and overall the third player in ODIs after John Edrich and Mohammad Abbas.
  • West Indies' 221 was their fourth highest score in One-day international and It is their highest total against England in ODIs, previous highest was 207 at Scarborough in this series' first ODI.
  • England's 185 was their fourth lowest score in the completed innings in One-day international and It is their second worst total against West Indies in ODIs.
  • Derek Randall's 88 was the second highest score by a batsman on debut ODI match after Dennis Amiss' 103.

West Indies scored 221 for all-out in 47.5 overs - match reduced 55 to 50-overs per side - due to rain match delayed the start for 90-minutes - with top scorer by Viv Richards 97 off 96-balls - who fell three-run short of his century, Gordon Greenidge 29, Clive Lloyd 27, Roy Fredericks 19 and Michael Holding 16.

England best bowler by Derek Underwood picked up 3-wickets for 27-runs in 10-overs, Tony Greig, Mike Hendrick, Bob Woolmer each took 2-wickets and one for Barry Wood.

England scored 185 for all-out in 45.3 overs with top scorer by Debutant Derek Randall - who scored 88 off 133-balls on his debut ODI match - including 10-fours & a six, Alan Knott 22 and Robin Jackman 14.

West Indies best bowler by Andy Roberts claimed a career-best 4-wickets for 27-runs in 8-overs including a maiden, Clive Lloyd takes 2-wickets for 4-runs in 1.3-overs, Vanburn Holder took 2-wickets and one for Bernard Julien.

Viv Richards named Player of the match for his brilliant batting performance to scored a 97-runs knocked off facing 96-balls including 10-fours.
