Charles Amini, Assad Vala and Norman Vanua stars as PNG registered their historic first ODI win against Nepal by thrilling 6-runs, despite a power-packed maiden century from Rohit Paudel and take a 1-0 lead in a nail-biter game of the first ODI.

Match Stats :
  • PNG's 6-run win was their smallest victory by terms of runs in One-day internationals, previous narrowest win by 14-runs against same opponent at Mong Kok in 2016.
  • PNG's 292 was their highest score in One-day internationals, previous highest was 264 against Hong Kong at Townsville in 2014.
  • Nepal's 286 was their highest score in One-day internationals, previous highest was 255 against UAE at ICCA Dubai in 2019.
  • Rohit Paudel became the second Nepal batsman to score a hundred in One-day internationals after Paras Khadka.
  • Rohit Paudel became the first Nepal batsman to score a century against PNG in One-day internationals.
  • 104 : Rohit Paudel and Aarif Sheikh set up the record fifth-wicket partnership for Nepal in One-day international, previously held by the 100-run stand between these same pair against same opponent at Sharjah in this year and also the Nepal highest any-wicket stand in ODIs.

PNG scored 292-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Charles Amini struck 77 off 103-balls including 6-fours & a six.

Assad Vala hammered a 60 off 55-balls including 11-fours, Norman Vanua blasted a 47 off 28-balls included 4-fours & 3-sixes with strike rate of 167.85.

Tony Ura scored 38 off 47-balls including 6-fours and Riley Hekure hit 31 off 40-balls included 5-fours.

Nepal best bowler by Dipendra Singh Airee, Kamal Airee, Sompal Kami each took 2-wickets and one for Pawan Sarraf - Sandeep Lamichhane.

Nepal scored 286-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Rohit Paudel hammered a 126 off 107-balls - which was his 1st ODI hundred - including 7-fours & 4-sixes with strike rate of 117.75.

Aarif Sheikh scored 34 off 64-balls including two boundaries, Kushal Bhurtel hit 32 off 28-balls included 6-fours with strike rate of 114.28, Kamal Airee 18 not out, Sompal Kami 18 not out, Bhim Sharki 17 and Dipendra Singh Airee 15.

PNG best bowler by Norman Vanua picked up 3-wickets, Assad Vala, Charles Amini both took 2-wickets and one for Nosaina Pokana.

Charles Amini named Player of the match for his all-round performance to took 2-wickets for 52-runs in 9-overs including a maiden after scoring a valuable 77 off 103-balls including 6-fours and a six.
