Andy Balbirne and Lorcan Tucker's superb half-centuries set up the chase before George Dockrell and Harry Tector kept their cool finish as Ireland hard-fought seven-wicket victory over Afghanistan and take a 1-0 lead in a last-over thriller of the first T20I.

Ibrahim Zadran cracked a unbeaten 29 off 18-balls including 2-sixes & a four with strike rate of 161.11, Rahmanullah Gurbaz struck 26 off 22-balls included 5-fours and Najibullah Zadran 15.

Ireland best bowler by Barry McCarthy picked up 3-wickets, George Dockrell takes 2-wickets for 7-runs in 2-overs and Gareth Delany and Josh Little both took one-wickets.

Ireland chased 171-3 in 19.5 overs with top scorer by Andy Balbirne struck 51 off 38-balls, Lorcan Tucker hammered a 50 off 32-balls including 6-fours & a six with strike rate of 156.25.

Paul Stirling scored 31 off 29-balls including 3-fours & 2-sixes, Harry Tector 25 not out and George Dockrell 10 not out.

Andy Balbirne named Player of the match for his match-winning superb 51-runs knocked off facing 38-balls including 5-fours and a six.
