Captain Shai Hope's brilliant century before Three-wicket hauls from Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein helped to West Indies comprehensive 48-run victory over South Africa, despite a skipper Temba Bavuma's blazing 144 and take a 1-0 lead in a high-scoring game of the second ODI.

  • West Indies' 48-run win was their third largest victory by terms of runs against South Africa in One-day internationals.
  • West Indies' 335 was their highest score against South Africa in One-day international, previous highest was 304 at Johannesburg in 2004 and also It is their highest total in South African soil in ODIs.
  • West Indies' 335 was the second highest score by any team at Buffalo Park, East London in ODIs after South Africa's 369 against Bangladesh in 2017.
  • Shai Hope became the eighth West Indies batsman to score a century against South Africa in ODIs.

West Indies scored 335-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Shai Hope hammered a unbeaten 128 off 115-balls - which was his 14th ODI hundred & his first century against South Africa in ODIs.

Rovman Powell struck 46 off 49-balls including 3-sixes & 2-fours, Nicholas Pooran hit 39 off 41-balls included 5-fours.

Kyle Mayers blasted a 36 off 26-balls including 5-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 138.46, Brandon King scored 30 off 29-balls included 4-fours and Jason Holder 15.

South Africa best bowler by Debutant Gerald Coetzee - who picked up 3-wickets on his debut ODI match, Bjorn Fortuin, Tabraiz Shamsi both took 2-wickets and one for Marco Jansen.

South Africa scored 287 for all-out in 41.4 overs with top scorer by Temba Bavuma blasted a career-best 144 off 118-balls - which was his 4th ODI hundred & his first century against West Indies in ODIs - including 11-fours & 7-sixes with strike rate of 122.03.

Quinton de Kock hammered a 48 off 26-balls - who fell two-run short of his half-century - including 5-fours & 3-sixes with strike rate of 184.61, Debutant Tony de Zorzi - who scored 27 off 26-balls on his debut ODI match - included 4-fours and Marco Jansen 17.

West Indies best bowler by Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein both picked up 3-wickets, Kyle Mayers, Odean Smith and Yannic Cariah each took one-wickets.

Shai Hope named Player of the match for his brilliant batting performance to scored a unbeaten 128-runs knocked off facing 115-balls including 7-sixes & 5-fours with strike rate of 111.30.
