Read the article of Sri Lanka vs Australia 4th ODI 1983 - Australia tour of Sri Lanka 4-match one-day international series of the 3rd ODI match played between Australia and Sri Lanka at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo in 30th April 1983.


The fourth limited 50-over one-day cricket match between Australia and Sri Lanka in Colombo was drawn after rain stopped the play.

Australia had scored 124-3 in 19.2 overs after overnight rain delayed the start by two hours. 

The game was reduced to a 30-over match after lunch. More rain interrupted play and the match was declared a draw but play continued as an exhibition to entertain the crowd by Graham Yallop blasted a unbeaten 60 off 81-balls including seven fours & 2-sixes and David Hookes hammered a 49 off 40-balls - who fell one-run short of his half-century included 6-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 122.50.

The third one-day match was abandoned the previous day because of rain and Sri Lanka won the limited-over series 2-0. Australia brought in Steve Smith in place of Tom Hogan while Sri Lanka replaced Guy de Rumesh Ratnayake and Somachandra de Silva with Brendon Kuruppu, Ravi Ratnayeke and Granville De Silva.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Ashantha de Mel took 2-wickets for 9-runs in 4-overs and Ravi Ratnayeke took one-wicket.

The Australians, who are due to fly home tomorrow, were keen to finish the tour successfully but they have accomplished the main aim of their visit by winning the Test in Kandy.
