Zaheer Abbas' classy fifty, Saleem Malik's maiden unbeaten half-century and A Superb fielding display helped to Pakistan narrow 15-run victory over Sri Lanka, despite a cavalier innings of 86 by Arvinda De Silva and go up 2-0 lead in the second ODI.


Pakistan scored 224-5 in the alloted 40 overs with top scorer by Saleem Malik blasted a unbeaten 72 off 60-balls including 6-fours & a six with strike rate of 120.

Zaheer Abbas scored 61 off 67-balls including three boundaries and Ramiz Raja hit 45 off 57-balls included 5-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Rumesh Ratnayake picked up 3-wickets and one for Roger Wijesuriya - Ashantha de Mel.

Sri Lanka scored 209-7 in 40 overs with top scorer by Aravinda de Silva cracked a 86 off 92-balls.

Roy Dias scored 43 off 54-balls including 2-fours, Amal Silva 19 and Arjuna Ranatunga 17 not out.

Pakistan best bowler by Abdul Qadir took 2-wickets and one for Tahir Naqqash - Imran Khan.

PAKISTAN beat Sri Lanka by 15 runs in the second one-day cricket international despite a cavalier innings of 86 by Arvinda De Silva.

De Silva, 20, who won the man-of-the-match award in the drawn first test for a polished 122, was again named man of the match for an innings which included four sixes, two of them off pace bowler Imran Khan.

While De Silva was at the crease, the touring team were always in with a chance of overhauling Pakistan's 40-over total of 224 for seven.

Pakistan's formidable total was built around half centuries by Salim Malik and Zaheer Abbas. They put on 116 for the fifth wicket, Salim hitting an unbeaten 72, his first half century in a one-day international, and Zaheer 61, the 13th time he has passed 50 in a limited overs international. 
The third game of the series is in Lahore on Friday.
