Chetan Sharma's three-wicket haul before Half-centuries from openers Sunil Gavaskar and Kris Srikkanth helped to India last-over tense three-wicket victory over Sri Lanka and enter into finals in the first Semi-final of a Austral-Asia Cup.


* India, the World Cup champions, survived a late collapse to pip Sri Lanka in a last over and enter into the final of the Australasia Cup cricket tournament in Sharjah.

* India, given a solid start by openers Sunil Gavaskar who hit 71, Kris Srikkanth - who blasted a 59 off 63-balls, scrambled past Sri Lanka's total of 205 for nine wickets off the first ball of the 50th over with three wickets to spare.



Sri Lanka scored 205-9 in 50 overs with top scorer by Asanka Gurusinha hit 68 off 113-balls including a boundary.

Duleep Mendis scored 32 off 50-balls without a boundary, Arjuna Ranatunga struck 28 off 25-balls included 2-fours, Guy de Alwis hit 19 off 13-balls with one-six & a four and Ashantha de Mel 15 not out.

India best bowler by Kapil Dev picked up 3-wickets for 39-runs in 10-overs, Kirti Azad, Maninder Singh and Madan Lal each took one-wickets.

India chased 206-7 in 49.1 overs with top scorer by Sunil Gavaskar struck 71 off 109-balls.

Kris Srikkanth cracked a 59 off 63-balls including 5-fours & a six, Mohammad Azharuddin scored 30 off 65-balls included a boundary and Ravi Shastri hit a unbeaten 21 off 28-balls with 2-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Ashantha de Mel and Don Anurasiri both took 3-wickets for 40-runs in their 10-overs quota.

Sunil Gavaskar named Player of the match for his match-winning brilliant 71 off 109-balls including 6-fours & a six.
