* Heartbreak for Afghanistan as Sri Lanka qualify for the Super Fours by narrowest margin, needing 292 in 37.1 overs to quality but they came agonisingly close in an intense chase, thanks to Mohammad Nabi's blazing 32-ball 65.


Sri Lanka scored 291-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Kusal Mendis blasted a 92 off 84-balls - who fell eight-run short of his century.

Pathum Nissanka struck 41 off 40-balls including 6-fours, Charith Asalanka cracked a 36 off 43-balls included 2-fours & a six.

Dunith Wellalage hit a unbeaten 33 off 39-balls including 3-fours & a six, Dimuth Karunaratne struck 32 off 35-balls included 6-fours and Maheesh Theekshana scored 28 off 24-balls with 2-fours & a six.

Afghanistan best bowler by Gulbadin Naib claimed a 4-wickets for 60-runs in 10-overs, Rashid Khan took 2-wickets and one for Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Afghanistan scored 289 for all-out in 37.4 overs with top scorer by Mohammad Nabi hammered a 65 off 32-balls including 6-sixes & 5-fours with strike rate of 203.12.

Hashmatullah Shahidi struck 59 off 66-balls including 3-fours & a six, Rahmat Shah hit 45 off 40-balls included 5-fours & a six, Rashid Khan blasted a unbeaten 27 off 16-balls including 4-fours & a six with strike rate of 168.75.

Najibullah Zadran hit 23 off 15-balls including 2-sixes & a four with strike rate of 153.33, Karim Janat cracked a 22 off 13-balls included 2-sixes & a four with strike-rate of 169.23 and Gulbadin Naib scored 22 off 16-balls with 4-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Kasun Rajitha claimed a 4-wickets for 79-runs in 10-overs, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dunith Wellalage both took 2-wickets and one for Maheesh Theekshana - Matheesha Pathirana.

Kusal Mendis named Player of the match for his brilliant batting performance to scored a 92 off 84-balls including 6-fours & 3-sixes with strike rate of 109.52.
