Javed Miandad, Imran Khan's fifties and A power-hitting display from Wasim Akram's 21-ball 48* sets up to Pakistan comfortable 41-run victory over India, despite a Ravi Shastri's blazing fifty and took an unassailable 4-1 lead clinch the six-match series in the fifth ODI.


* This game was held up several times as spectactors threw empty bottles and stones, and organisers had to seek police help to calm the crowd.

* Pakistan team dominated the game in all departments, compose 286 for six in their quota 44 overs then restraining India to 245 for nine.

* Javed Miandad and captain Imran Khan led a Pakistani recovery after Pakistan had lost four wickets for only 83 runs. They added 83 for the sixth wicket with Javed Miandad hitting 79 and Imran Khan blasted a 73 later All-rounder Wasim Akram smashed a unbeaten 48 off 21-balls.

* India started slowly, made 23 in the first 10 overs and losing two wickets. Veteran opener Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar brought India back into the game with a 65-run stand for the third wicket before Dilip Vengsarkar was bowled by a leg-spinner Abdul Qadir for 34, which included two sixes and two fours.

* Vice-captain Ravi Shastri and Opener Sunil Gavaskar then tore into the Pakistani attack, raising India's victory hopes. They added 75 for the fifth wicket before Gavaskar was out for a superb 70, scored off 102 balls with five fours and a six. Shastri struck four sixes and five boundaries in his 52 off only 39 balls. But when he was caught out by Manzoor Elahi off Imran Khan the remainder of the Indian batting fell apart on the easy-paced wicket.



Pakistan scored 286-6 in the alloted 44 overs with top scorer by Javed Miandad hit 78 off 88-balls including 5-fours & a six.

Imran Khan blasted a 73 off 65-balls including 7-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 112.30, Wasim Akram hammered a unbeaten 48 off 21-balls and Ijaz Ahmed hit 34 off 48-balls with 4-fours.

India best bowler by Maninder Singh took 2-wickets and one for Kapil Dev - Chetan Sharma.

India scored 245-9 in 44 overs with top scorer by Sunil Gavaskar struck 70 off 96-balls including 5-fours & a six.

Ravi Shastri hammered a 52 off 39-balls including 4-sixes & 3-fours with strike rate of 133.33 and Dilip Vengsarkar scored 34 off 35-balls included 2-fours & a six.

Pakistan best bowler by Wasim Akram 3-26, Abdul Qadir picked up 3-wickets and one for Saleem Jaffar - Imran Khan

Wasim Akram named Player of the match for his all-round performance to picked up 3-wickets for 26-runs in 10-overs including a maiden with economy rate of 2.60 after smashing power-hitting unbeaten 48 off 21-balls included 4-sixes & 4-fours with strike rate of 228.57.
