New Zealand's 149-run win was their second largest victory by terms of runs in the ODI World Cup after their 181-run win against East Africa in the inaugural 1975 World Cup. New Zealand's 288 was their highest score against Afghanistan in One-day international, previous highest was 188 at Napier in the 2015 World Cup and also It is their highest total at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai in ODIs, previous highest was 286 against Australia in the 1996 World Cup. 144 : Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips set up the record fifth-wicket partnership for New Zealand against Afghanistan in One-day international, previously held by the unbeaten 13-run stand between Ross Taylor and Corey Anderson at Napier in the 2015 World Cup. Afghanistan's 139 was their lowest score against New Zealand in One-day international, previous lowest was 172 at Taunton in the 2019 World Cup and It is their second worst-total in the ODI World Cup after their 125 against South Africa at Cardiff in the 2019 World Cup.

New Zealand scored 288-6 in 50 overs with top scorer by Glenn Phillips cracked a 71 off 80-balls, Tom Latham cracked a 68 off 74-balls including 3-fours & 2-sixes, Will Young hit 54 off 64-balls included 4-fours & 3-sixes.

Rachin Ravindra scored 32 off 41-balls including 2-fours & a six, Mark Chapman blasted a unbeaten 25 off 12-balls included 2-fours & a six with strike rate of 208.33 and Devon Conway hit 20 off 18-balls contained 3-fours.

Afghanistan best bowler by Naveen-ul-Haq, Azmatullah Omarzai both took 2-wickets and one for Rashid Khan - Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Afghanistan scored 139 for all-out in 34.4 overs with top scorer by Rahmat Shah scored 36 off 62-balls including a boundary.

Azmatullah Omarzai  hit 27 off 32-balls including 2-fours and Ikram Alikhil scored a unbeaten 19 off 21-balls included 3-fours.

New Zealand best bowler by Lockie Ferguson picked up 3-wickets for 19-runs in 7-overs including a maiden with strike rate of 2.71, Mitchell Santner captured three-wickets for 39-runs in 7.4-overs, Trent Boult took 2-wickets and one for Matt Henry - Rachin Ravindra.

Glenn Phillips named Player of the match for his brilliant batting performance to scored a 71 off 80-balls including 4-sixes and 4-fours.
