A superb captain innings from Scott Edwards' unbeaten 78, Roelof van der Merwe and Aryan Dutt's assault before Bowlers shine as Netherlands registered their historic first ODI win against South Africa by a stunning 38-runs, despite a No.9 batsman Keshav Maharaj's fighting 40 in the 15th match of a Cricket World Cup.

Match Stats : 
  • This is the Netherlands' third win in the ODI World Cup in their 23rd attempts. Their previous two wins came against Associate teams Namibia in 2003 and Scotland in 2007.
  • This is the South Africa first loss against an Associate team in One-day internationals before also against Netherlands at Adelaide in the last year T20 World Cup.
  • Netherlands added 105 runs after the fall of their seventh wicket, - which was their second-highest by from that position in a ODI and the ninth highest most runs added by a team after the fall of the seventh wicket in a ODI World Cup match.
  • Netherlands' 245 was their second highest score against South Africa in One-day international after their 258 at Amstelveen in 2013 and It is their fourth highest total in the ODI World Cup.
  • 64 : Scott Edward and Roelof van der Merwe set up the record eighth-wicket partnership for Netherlands against South Africa in One-day international, previously held by the 21-run stand between Teja Nidamanuru and Ryan Klein at Benoni earlier in this year and the Netherlands' fourth highest eighth-wicket stand in ODIs.
  • South Africa's 207 was their lowest score in a completed innings against Netherlands in ODIs, previous lowest was 277 at Centurion in 2021.
  • South Africa lost their top five batsmen wickets for 89-runs - which was their joint seventh worst first five-wicket collapse in ODI World Cup.

Netherlands scored 245-8 in the alloted 43 overs - match reduced from 50 to 43-overs per a side - due to rain - with top scorer by Scott Edward blasted a unbeaten 78 off 69-balls.

Roelof van der Merwe hammered a 29 off 19-balls including 3-fours & a six with strike rate of 152.63, Aryan Dutt blasted a unbeaten 23 off 9-balls included 3-sixes with strike rate of 255.55.

Teja Nidamanuru struck 20 off 25-balls including 3-fours, Sybrand Engelbrecht scored 19 off 37-balls included one-six & a four and Max O'Dowd hit 18 off 25-balls contained 4-fours.

South Africa best bowler by Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi each took 2-wickets and one for Keshav Maharaj - Gerald Coetzee.

South Africa scored 207 for all-out in 42.5 overs with top scorer by David Miller cracked a 43 off 52-balls including 4-fours & a six.

Keshav Maharaj struck 40 off 37-balls including 5-fours & a six, Heinrich Klaasen hit a run-a-ball 28-runs including 4-fours, Gerald Coetzee scored 22 off 23-balls included 2-fours & a six.

Netherlands best bowler by Logan van Beek picked up 3-wickets, Roelof van der Merwe, Bas de Leede, Paul van Meekeren each took 2-wickets and one for Colin Ackermann.

Scott Edwards named Player of the match for his captain innings of unbeaten 78-runs knocked off facing 69-balls including 10-fours & a six with strike rate of  113.04.
