Athula Samarasekera, Aravinda de Silva's half-centuries, A all-round display from captain Arjuna Ranatunga's quick-fire 49 with openers wickets and Kapila Wijegunawardene's career-best 4-wickets helped to Sri Lanka narrow 17-run victory over India and qualify for the finals in the third match of a Wills Asia Cup.



Sri Lanka scored 271-6 in 50 overs with top scorer by Aravinda de Silva struck 69 off 63-balls, Athula Samarasekera scored 66 off 69-balls including 2-fours & a six.

Arjuna Ranatunga hammered a unbeaten 49 off 32-balls included 5-fours with strike rate of 153.12, Roshan Mahanama 21, Duleep Mendis 19, Brendon Kuruppu 16 and Ravi Ratnayeke 16.

India best bowler by Kapil Dev strikes two-wickets, Mohinder Amarnath, Kris Srikkanth, Sanjeev Sharma and Arshad Ayub each took one-wickets.

India scored 254 for all-out in 44 overs with top scorer by Navjot Sidhu struck 50 off 55-balls including 3-fours.

Kris Srikkanth cracked a 42 off 54-balls including 4-fours, Dilip Vengsarkar blasted a 34 off 24-balls included 2-fours & a six with strike rate of 141.66.

Mohammad Azharuddin hit 34 off 38-balls contained 2-sixes & a four and Sanjeev Sharma scored 28 off 26-balls included 2-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Kapila Wijegunawardene claimed a career-best 4-wickets for 49-runs in 9-overs, Arjuna Ranatunga took 2-wickets and one for Aravinda de Silva - Ravi Ratnayeke.

Aravinda de Silva named Player of the match for his all-round performance to took 1-wicket for 36-runs in 6-overs after scoring a brilliant 69 off 63-balls including 3-fours.
