  • This is the fourth time West Indies have whitewashed their oppositions in a bilateral five-match series in One-day international and their second whitewash against India in ODIs.
  • This is the second time India have suffered a clean sweep in a bilateral five-match series in One-day internationals, previous such clean sweep also against West Indies in 1983.
  • Desmond Haynes became the first batsman to scored 14 centuries in One-day international cricket history.
  • Desmond Haynes became the third West Indies batsman to scored two centuries against India in ODIs after Viv Richards (3) and Gordon Greenidge (3).

  • 95 : Desmond Haynes and Richie Richardson set up the fifth highest second-wicket partnership for West Indies against India in ODIs.

West Indies scored 289-2 in 43.5 overs at when rain stopped the play - with top scorer by Desmond Haynes hammered a career-best unbeaten 152 off 126-balls - which was his 14th ODI hundred and his second century against India in ODIs.

Gordon Greenidge struck 80 off 114-balls including 9-fours & a six and Richie Richardson hit a unbeaten 42 off 52-balls included 5-fours.

India best bowler by Chetan Sharma and Ajay Sharma both took one-wickets.

India scored 188-8 in the alloted 44 overs with top scorer by Kapil Dev cracked a 38 off 48-balls including 3-fours.

Ajay Sharma struck 30 off 35-balls including 2-fours & a six, Dilip Vengsarkar 22, Kiran More 20 not out, Mohammad Azharuddin 19 and Kris Srikkanth retired for 17.

West Indies best bowler by Viv Richards picked up 3-wickets for 41-runs in 10-overs including a maiden, Courtney Walsh took 2-wickets and one for Ian Bishop - Curtly Ambrose.

Desmond Haynes named Player of the match for his magnificent batting performance to smashed a career-best whirlwind unbeaten 152-runs knocked off facing 126-balls including 12-fours and 6-sixes with strike rate of 120.63.
