* India needed 16 runs from the last over but suffered an immediate setback when Imran Khan trapped Manoj Prabhakar Ibw with his first delivery.

* The new debutant batsman, Salil Ankola, struck the Pakistan captain's next delivery for six over fine-leg, and two runs came from the next two balls.

* With his fifth delivery, Imran Khan flattened the stumps of Vivek Razdan, leaving India needing eight from the final ball, Last man Maninder Singh failed to score, leaving India on 80 for nine of the allotted 16 overs in reply to Pakistan's 87 for nine.



Pakistan scored 87-9 in 16 overs with top scorer by Saeed Anwar hammered a unbeaten 42 off 32-balls, Mansoor Akhtar hit 18 off 27-balls including 2-fours and Ramiz Raja scored 10 off 17-balls without a boundary.

India best bowler by Maninder Singh captured two-wickets, Debutant Salil Ankola - who took 2-wickets on his debut ODI match and Raman Lamba took one-wicket.

India scored 80-9 in 16 overs with top scorer by Mohammad Azharuddin struck 21 off 19-balls including 2-fours, Kris Srikkanth hit 17 off 20-balls included 2-fours, Raman Lamba and Manoj Prabhakar both took one-wickets.

Pakistan best bowler by Imran Khan picked up 3-wickets for 18-runs in 4-overs, Waqar Younis captured three-wickets for 21-runs in 4-overs and Aaqib Javed took 2-wickets.

Saeed Anwar named Player of the match for his superb batting performance to scored a unbeaten 42 off 32-balls including 4-fours & 2-sixes with strike rate of 131.25.
