Malcolm Marshall and Ian Bishop gave England a frightening reminder of fast bowling, Carribbean style, before rain washed out the first One-day international in Port of Spain.


West Indies scored 208-8 in 50 overs with top scorer by Richie Richardson hit 51 off 81-balls including three boundaries.

Viv Richards struck 32 off 42-balls including 2-sixes & a six, Desmond Haynes hit 25 off 51-balls included 2-fours, Gordon Greenidge scored 21 off 45-balls with 4-fours, Ian Bishop 18 not out, Carl Hooper 17 and Jeff Dujon 15 not out.

England best bowler by Angus Fraser, Gladstone Small both took 2-wickets, David Capel, Graham Gooch, Chris Lewis and Eddie Hemmings each took one-wickets.

England scored 26 for 1 in 13 overs at when rain stopped the play - with top scorer by Graham Gooch 13 not out, Robin Smith 6 not out and Wayne Larkins 2.

West Indies best bowler by Malcolm Marshall took for 12-runs in 6-overs including a maiden with economy rate of 2.
