17-year old Sachin Tendulkar's all-round display, Ravi Shastri and Mohammad Azharuddin's fifties helped to India convincing six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka and took an unassailable 2-0 lead to seal the series in the second ODI.


Sri Lanka scored 227-8 in the allotted 49 overs with top scorer by Arjuna Ranatunga hammered a 27 off 58-balls including 5-fours & a six with strike rate of 214.81.

Asanka Gurusinha cracked a 44 off 76-balls including two boundaries, Dammika Ranatunga scored 25 off consuming 76-balls included a boundary.

Roshan Mahanama hit 24 off 57-balls contained three-fours and Graeme Labrooy blasted a unbeaten 21 off 12-balls including 2-fours & a six with strike rate of 175.

India best bowler by Arshad Ayub, Sachin Tendulkar both took 2-wickets and one for Atul Wassan - Manoj Prabhakar.

India chased 230-4 in 45.3 overs with top scorer by Sachin Tendulkar blasted a 53 off 41-balls, Ravi Shastri cracked a 53 off 88-balls including four boundaries.

Mohammad Azharuddin hit a unbeaten 52 off 49-balls included 5-fours, Navjot Sidhu struck 38 off 63-balls including 4-fours & a six and Sanjay Manjrekar scored 23 off 38-balls without a boundary.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Don Anurasiri and Graeme Labrooy both took 2-wickets.

Sachin Tendulkar named Player of the match for his match-winning all-round performance to smashed a sparkling 53 off 41-balls including 7-fours & a six with strike rate of 129.26.
