All-rounder Angelo Mathews' all-round display and Bowlers leads to Sri Lanka's record 72-run victory over Afghanistan and took an unassailable 2-0 lead to seal the series in a one-sided game of the second T20I.

  • Sri Lanka's 72-run win was their fifth largest victory by terms of runs in T20 international and It is their biggest win against Afghanistan in T20Is, previously they have won by 4-runs at same venue earlier in this series' first T20I match.
  • Sri Lanka's 187 was their highest score against Afghanistan in T20 international, previous highest was 179 at Sharjah in 2022 and the highest-score by any team at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in T20Is, previous highest was 160 also against Afghanistan earlier in this series' opening game.
  • 45 : Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis set up the second highest first-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan in T20Is, The highest is 62-run stand between these same pair at Dambulla earlier in this series' previous T20I match.
  • 66 : Sadeera Samarawickrama and Angelo Mathews set up the record sixth-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan in T20 international, previously held by the 23-run stand between Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga at Sharjah in the 2022 T20 Asia Cup and the Sri Lanka's fourth highest sixth-wicket stand in T20Is.
  • Afghanistan lost their top five batsmen wickets for just 31-runs - which was their fourth worst first five-wicket collapse in T20 international and it is their worst first 5-wicket collapse against Sri Lanka in T20Is. Their previous worst such collapse was five for 86-runs against Sri Lanka at same venue earlier in this series' opening T20I.
  • Afghanistan's 115 was their lowest score in a completed innings against Sri Lanka in T20 international, previous lowest-score was 116 at Hambantota in the last year.
  • Wanindu Hasaranga became the second Sri Lankan bowler to take 100 T20I wickets after Lasith Malinga's 107-wickets in 84 matches.

Angelo Mathews hammered a unbeaten 42 off 22-balls, Pathum Nissanka hammered a 25 off 11-balls including 5-fours with strike rate of 227.27, Kusal Mendis blasted a 23 off 14-balls included 4-fours with strike rate of 164.28.

Wanindu Hasaranga blasted a 22 off 9-balls including 2-sixes & a four with strike rate of 244.44 and Dhananjaya de Silva scored a run-a-ball 14-runs.

Afghanistan best bowler by Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai both took 2-wickets and one for Fazalhaq Farooqi - Naveen-ul-Haq.

Afghanistan bundled out for 115 in 17 overs with top scorer by Karim Janat struck 28 off 23-balls including 2-fours & a six.

Mohammad Nabi hammered a 27 off 17-balls including 2-sixes & a four with strike rate of 158.82 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit 13 off 8-balls included 2-fours.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Angelo Mathews, Binura Fernando, Wanindu Hasaranga, Matheesha Pathirana each took 2-wickets and one for Dasun Shanaka - Maheesh Theekshana.

Angelo Mathews named Player of the match for his all-round performance to took 2-wickets for 9-runs in 2-overs after scoring a quick-fire unbeaten 42 off 22-balls including 4-sixes & 2-fours with strike rate of 190.90.
