Openers Pathum Nissanka's brilliant century, Avishka Fernando's 66-ball 91 and Captain Kusal Mendis' 29-ball 40 powers to Sri Lanka comfortable seven-wicket victory over Afghanistan and registered their historic first 3-0 series whitewash against Afghanistan in the third & final ODI.

  • This is the 11th time Sri Lanka have whitewashed their oppositions in a bilateral three-match series in One-day international and registered their historic first 3-0 whitewash against Afghanistan in ODIs. This is the third time Afghanistan have suffered a clean sweep in a bilateral three-match series in ODIs.
  • Sri Lanka chased 267 was their second highest successful run-chase against Afghanistan in ODIs after they have chased 314 at same venue in 2022.
  • Afghanistan's 266 was their sixth highest score against Sri Lanka in One-day international and It is their fourth highest total at Pallekelle in ODIs.
  • 57 : Azmatullah Omarzai and Ikram Alikhil set up the second highest fifth-wicket partnership for Afghanistan against Sri Lanka in ODIs.
  • Pathun Nissanka became the first Sri Lankan batsman to scored two centuries against Afghanistan in ODIs.
  • 173 : Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando set up the second highest first-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan in One-day international, The highest is 182-run stand between these same pair at same venue earlier in this series' opening match and also the Sri Lanka's second highest any-wicket stand against Afghanistan in ODIs.
  • 78 : Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis set up the record second-wicket partnership for Sri Lanka against Afghanistan in ODIs, previously held by the 62-run stand between these same pair at Pune in the 2023 World Cup.
  • 346 : Pathum Nissanka hit the most runs in a bilateral three-match series in One-day international, surpassing the previous record of 267-runs hit by Roshan Mahanama against Zimbabwe in 1994 and the fourth most runs hit by any batsman in a bilateral three-match series in ODIs.

Afghanistan scored 266 for all-out in 48.2 overs with top scorer by Rahmat Shah struck 65 off 77-balls including 7-fours & a six.

Azmatullah Omarzai cracked a 54 off 59-balls including 4-fours, Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit 48 off 57-balls - who fell two-run short of his half-century - included 6-fours & a six.

Ikram Alikhil struck 32 off 38-balls including 2-fours & a six and Mohammad Nabi 14.

Sri Lanka best bowler by Pramod Madushan picked up 3-wickets for 45-runs in 8.2-overs, Dunith Wellalage, Asitha Fernando and Akila Dananjaya each took 2-wickets.

Sri Lanka chased 267-3 in 35.2 overs with top scorer by Pathun Nissanka hit 118 off 101-balls - which was his 5th ODI hundred and his second century against Afghanistan in ODIs.

Avishka Fernando hammered a 91 off 66-balls - who fell nine-run short of his century - including 10-fours & 5-sixes with strike rate of 137.87 and Kusal Mendis blasted a 40 off 29-balls included 4-sixes with strike rate of 137.93.

Afghanistan best bowler by Qais Ahmad took 2-wickets and one for Mohammad Nabi.

Pathum Nissanka named Player of the match for his match-winning brilliant 118-runs knocked off facing 101-balls including 16-fours and 2-sixes with strike rate of 116.83.

Pathum Nissanka earned player of the series for contributing 346 runs in the three-match series.
